2026 GMC Sierra EV

2026 GMC
Sierra EV

GMC’s first-ever electric pickup is back with an expanded lineup for the 2026 model year. The new base Elevation trim joins the Sierra EV family, with a toned-down appearance for drivers who prefer a more utilitarian look. The new trail-inspired AT4 trim brings a rugged new look, blending off-road capability – thanks to a 2-inch lift and tow hooks – with all-electric power. The AT4 also comes with GM’s Crabwalk 4-wheel steer for added versatility, and split-phase AC offboarding power to take electricity beyond the grid when needed. The two new trims complement the original Denali grade, which remains the Sierra EV’s upscale option, sporting leatherette seating surfaces and an available adaptive air-ride suspension for a smoother ride.

With the fresh Sierra EV styles comes a new powertrain option: the Standard Range battery pack and powertrain, now an option on the Elevation and Denali, generates 605 horsepower and 605 lb.-ft. of torque, complemented by an estimated 283-mile drive range. New colors, including Dark Ember Metallic, Coastal Dune, Deep Bronze Metallic, Glacier White Tricoat, and Magnus Matte, replace the outgoing Dark Ember Tintcoat and Moonlight Matte shades. Changes aside, the Sierra EV continues to deliver the power that drivers expect from the Sierra nameplate, with the benefits of electric efficiency, Crabwalk’s greater maneuverability, and the MultiPro midgate’s storage versatility.

Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

The 2026 Sierra EV is offered in three trims – Elevation, AT4, and Denali – and powertrain options called Standard Range, Extended Range, and Max Range. They all run on a dual-motor four-wheel-drive (4WD) platform. The Standard Range powertrain produces 605 horsepower and 605 lb.-ft. of torque on both the Elevation and Denali trims. The Extended Range powertrain is available for the entire lineup, making 645 horsepower and up to 765 lb.-ft. of torque on the Elevation, increasing to 785 lb.-ft. of torque on the two higher trims. The Max Range generates 725 horsepower and up to 775 lb.-ft. of torque on the AT4, and 760 horsepower and up to 785 lb.-ft. of torque on the Denali.

The Max Range leads the powertrains in efficiency, with a GM-estimated range of 478 miles. The Extended Range follows, achieving an EPA-estimated 410-mile range on the Elevation and Denali, and a GM-estimated 310-mile range on the AT4. Last is the Standard Range, which provides both the Elevation and Denali with an EPA-estimated 283 miles of range on a full charge.

The Extended Range has the highest towing capacity, at 12,500 pounds for the Elevation and Denali, dropping slightly to 12,300 pounds on the AT4. It boasts a 1,950-pound maximum payload on the Denali and AT4, decreasing to 1,700 pounds on the Elevation. The Max Range is next, achieving a 10,200-pound towing limit and 1,500-pound maximum payload on both the AT4 and Denali, while the Standard Range brings up the rear with an 8,500-pound towing capacity and a 2,250-pound maximum payload for both the Elevation and Denali. The AT4 trim has extra ground clearance thanks to a 2-inch lift kit. Max Range Sierra EVs come with GM’s Crabwalk 4-wheel steering, and the Denali Max Range alone has an adaptive air-ride suspension.

Every Sierra EV is capable of DC fast charging, with 220 kW on the Standard Range, 300 kW on the Extended Range, and 350 kW on the Max Range. The whole lineup can distribute vehicle-to-home power, but only the AT4 models and the Denali Max upgrade to 10.2 kW, split-phase AC offboarding power and up to 19.2 kW vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capability (with the proper equipment).

Standard Features

The Elevation gets digital key capability, remote start, keyless entry, CoreTec upholstery, heated front bucket seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, a heated steering wheel, an 11-inch digital driver information display, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a Universal Home remote, ambient interior lighting, seven USB-C ports (two center console, four rear), 12- and 120-volt power outlets (center console), and a 60/40 split-folding rear bench. Its exterior highlights are heated side mirrors, IntelliBeam single-projector LED headlights with auto-on/off, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, active aero grille shutters, front solar glass, rear privacy glass, molded assist steps, and 18-inch machine-finished aluminum wheels with gloss-black pockets. The AT4 Standard Range’s bed receives a spray-on bedliner and comes outfitted with four 120-volt power outlets, as well as a 240-volt outlet. The AT4 Max Range has a panoramic fixed-glass roof, a digital rearview mirror, and a MultiPro midgate, which opens up the cab to the bed to expand the total cargo space to 109 inches. The Denali Standard and Extended Range both drop the standard panoramic fixed-glass roof, MultiPro midgate, tow hooks, and extra power outlets, but make up for it with a nice leatherette interior and 22-inch aluminum wheels with Ultrabright machining, painted inserts, painted pockets, and a laser-etched Denali logo. The Denali Max Range brings back the aforementioned glass roof, MultiPro midgate, and power outlets (all are available on the Denali Extended Range), and rides on 24-inch, six-spoke, selectively machined aluminum wheels with trim-exclusive etching.

Safety and Driver Assistance Technology

The entire Sierra EV family is equipped with enhanced automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, HD surround vision, blind-zone steering assist, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front and rear park assist, hitch view, hitch guidance, a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, rear pedestrian alert, buckle-to-drive technology, and rear seat reminder. The Denali Standard Range adds driver attention assist and enhanced automatic parking assist, the Denali Extended Range receives a bed camera, and the AT4 and Denali Max Range get enhanced automatic emergency braking. All Sierra EVs come with adaptive cruise control, which is upgraded on the AT4 and Denali with GM’s Super Cruise driver-assist technology, offering hands-free driving and automatic lane changes.

The 2026 Sierra EV’s infotainment package has a 16.8-inch LCD touchscreen with Google built-in compatibility, navigation, natural voice recognition, connected apps, SiriusXM satellite radio 360L, personalized driver profiles, 5G connectivity, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The Elevation channels its media through six speakers, while the AT4 and Denali show off a premium 7-speaker Bose audio system with a subwoofer (available on the Elevation Extended Range).

All Sierra EVs are compatible with OnStar, GM’s subscription-based connectivity suite. OnStar Basics, including remote commands, voice assistance, real-time traffic and navigation, and automatic crash response, is standard on all Sierra EVs, and the AT4 and Denali come with three years of OnStar One, which provides safety services, Wi-Fi, and in-vehicle apps.
