2025 GMC
Yukon

The GMC Yukon has a history of excellence in the full-sized SUV class. Designed for off-the-grid exploration, this three-row body-on-frame utility vehicle balances unshakable capability with refinement – and even high luxury if you choose an upper trim level. For model year 2025, the stalwart Yukon becomes even more compelling with a host of significant updates that amplify its upmarket appeal. The restyled exterior is highlighted by a new grille and updated front and rear lighting elements with special animation. The trim lineup has also been refreshed with two new members: Elevation and AT4 Ultimate. Elevation now serves as the entry-level option, while the AT4 Ultimate combines the off-road prowess of the AT4 with luxurious enhancements like massaging front seats, full-grain leather upholstery, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The Denali Ultimate qualifies for class-exclusive second-row Executive Seating and a lavish 22-speaker Bose audio system. Cutting-edge safety technology is expanded with GM’s first-ever Night Vision camera, which uses thermal object detection, alongside features like front pedestrian and bicyclist detection, rear cross-traffic braking, side bicyclist alert, and intersection automatic emergency braking. To top it off, all trims now feature a massive 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

GMC makes the Yukon in five trim packages: Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate. Most of them can accommodate up to eight passengers, but the AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate seat seven with their configuration featuring middle-row captain’s chairs. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 generating 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate are equipped with a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel engine, producing 305 hp and an impressive 495 lb.-ft. of torque; it’s an option for the first three trims. Meanwhile, the Denali is outfitted with a robust 6.2-liter V8 producing 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque (optional for the AT4, AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate). All of these engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard in the Elevation and Denali, but they can be upgraded with four-wheel drive (4WD), which is standard in the AT4, AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate. The Yukon boasts a maximum towing capacity of 8,400 pounds, too, making it a powerful choice for hauling and adventure.

According to EPA estimates, RWD Yukons with the 5.3-liter V8 achieve 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. The 4WD variants returns 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway, while those with the 6.2-liter V8 pull off 14 mpg city/18 mpg highway. The fuel economy ratings for the Duramax Turbo Diesel are forthcoming.
