Trims, Configurations, and Powertrains
There are six Silverado HD trims: WT (Work Truck), Custom, LT, LTZ, ZR2, and High Country, and two versions: 2500 HD and 3500 HD. The Custom grade is exclusive to the Silverado 2500 HD. Buyers have three cab options to choose from: regular (two doors), Double Cab (two standard front doors and two rear-access doors, and Crew Cab (four standard doors). There are also two cargo bed lengths: standard (82.25 inches) and long (98.27 inches). The 3500 HD can be purchased with single-wheel or dual-wheel rear axle arrangements. The possible configurations vary by trim and version.
The standard powerplant is a 6.6-liter gasoline V8 that makes 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque. The available Duramax 6.6-liter V8 Turbo-Diesel produces 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft. of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is optional and included with the ZR2 and High Country trims. An Allison ten-speed automatic transmission manages all drivetrains.
The 2500 HD and 3500 HD can conventionally tow up to 20,000 pounds, while fifth-wheel/gooseneck hauling ability increases considerably with the Max Trailering Package added: a maximum of 22,430 pounds for the 2500 HD and 36,000 pounds for the 3500 HD. The payload limits max out at 3,615 pounds for the 2500 HD and 7,237 pounds for the 3500 HD. Capacities vary by cab style, bed length, engine, and equipment.
