2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV

2025 Chevrolet
Equinox EV

The sophomore model year for the Chevrolet Equinox EV brings improvements to its electric powertrains, with an increase in horsepower. This no-emissions compact crossover also has a number of optional packages for those who want more amenities than the standard allotment. The Equinox EV is quick off the line, with the AWD version able to reach 60 mph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds.

The five-passenger Equinox EV continues to make a strong case for electric vehicles in the mainstream market. Its driving range reaches up to 319 miles between charges, which should please shoppers in this segment. Built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform rather than sharing architecture with its gas-powered namesake, the Equinox EV provides the passenger space and cargo flexibility expected of a modern, family-friendly vehicle.

Trims and Powertrains

Chevy’s simplified Equinox EV lineup translates into three trim choices for 2025: LT, LT 2, and RS. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the standard configuration via a single 220-horsepower electric motor – a seven-horsepower bump over last year. The available all-wheel-drive (AWD) system adds an electric motor to the rear axle, increasing combined output to 300 horsepower (a 12-horsepower increase from 2024).

With FWD, the Equinox EV carries an EPA-estimated range of 319 miles, which changes to 285 miles with AWD. Charging at Level 2/240 volts adds 36 miles of range per hour at 11.5 kW, while Level 3/DC fast charging increases range by 77 miles for every 10 minutes of 150 kW charging. The Equinox EV offers 26.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row or 57.2 cubic feet behind the front seats. It can tow up to 1,500 pounds with the proper equipment.

Standard Features and Major Options

The LT’s equipment list includes LED exterior lighting, single-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, an 11-inch driver information display, proximity keyless entry, rear privacy glass, power side mirrors, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, four USB ports (two per row), and 19-inch wheels. The LT 2 receives Evotex leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a heated wrapped steering wheel, wireless device charging, a hands-free power liftgate, heated power side mirrors, a center light bar (on the front end), roof-mounted side rails, adjustable ambient cabin lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The RS adds a heated flat-bottomed steering wheel and 21-inch black-finish wheels with self-sealing tires.

Chevy presents a few upgrade packages that can be added to boost the amenities on both trims. The Comfort Package gives the LT heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support.

The LT 2 and RS are both eligible for the Convenience Package II, which includes heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a driver’s memory system, a six-way power front passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, enhanced exterior lighting, a heated wiper park, a rear camera mirror with washer, and 21-inch wheels (LT 2). A dual-pane power sunroof is optional on both trims.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2025 Equinox EVs have Chevy Safety Assist with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, intersection automatic emergency braking, side bicyclist alert, adaptive cruise control, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, and rear parking sensors. The Active Safety Package 2 is standard on the LT 2 and RS and optional for the LT. It includes a surround-view monitor, enhanced lane keep assist (with lane departure warning), rear pedestrian alert, traffic sign recognition, and reverse automatic braking. The LT 2 and RS are also available with the Active Safety Package 3, adding Super Cruise hands-free highway driving and semi-autonomous parking. The Teen Driver feature is standard on all trims. It mutes the audio until the front passengers fasten their seatbelts, activates safety systems when the teen-designated key fob is in use, and encourages safe driving habits with an in-vehicle report card. Every Equinox EV also comes with a safety alert seat, a rearview monitor, an LED reflective windshield collision alert, a set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 17.7-inch touchscreen is the control center for the Equinox EV’s advanced infotainment system. The platform incorporates Google built-in features for ready access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and other popular apps. All three trims have a six-speaker sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and subscription-based access to a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar services.
