No matter your gender, budget or lifestyle, we always look to welcome and treat you with the same respect and integrity we'd expect ourselves. As a car-owner and woman herself, our General Manager, Wendy Bowen, works tirelessly to ensure that women and men alike enjoy a hassle-free and judgement-free car-buying experience. In fact, Wendy is a proud member of the Women's Retail Car Dealership Network, which aids in the education, networking and recruitment of women into the automotive industry, so helping women receive a premium car-buying experience is something she is extremely passionate about. Q: What makes Hurd Auto Mall a women-friendly dealership? What do you offer that competing dealerships might overlook?
I think Hurd Auto Mall has a different vision -- we are more compassionate towards women in general as I think we all know that women make most if not all the decisions in a household! I believe in constant and direct communication with all employees -- no yelling, no belittling of customers or fellow employees. Mutual respect is a constant in our organization. Treat others like you'd like to be treated. We address every single comment, concern or complaint personally. I try to exhibit a positive attitude and have respectful conversation with all…we may not solve everything but customers and employees will have a more pleasant experience -- that is my promise.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a female GM?
It’s a fun job, and it’s never boring! Most importantly, it is a rewarding position. I look at my team as my peers and my family. I was lucky enough to attend NADA General Management School in McLean, Virginia. I wear my heart on my sleeve and think about this place 24/7 -- those are the employees we try to find, nurture and grow with.
Q: What other positions do women on your staff hold?
I have three women sales consultants and one woman service advisor, not to mention an administrative office full of hard working women, and many women in my Business Development Center.
Q: You're a member of the Women's Retail Car Dealership Network. What does this organization do and how has being a part of it impacted how you do business?
The WRN is a national group of women car dealers. It's a great organization for educating, networking and recruiting women into our industry, and they offer excellent seminars and coaching experiences!
