The 2025 Sierra lineup is extensive, with eight trim levels to choose from: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. The base engine in the Pro, SLE, and Elevation is a 2.7-liter “TurboMax” four-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. A 5.3-liter V8 generating 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque is optional on these trims and standard on the SLT and Denali.
The AT4 and AT4X get a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel with an output of 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque, while the Denali Ultimate boasts a standard 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The turbodiesel is available as an option on the SLE, Elevation, SLT, and Denali, while the 6.2-liter V8 can be selected for the SLT, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.
The four-cylinder base engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other powerplants use a ten-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most trims, with four-wheel drive optional except on the AT4, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate trims, where it comes standard.
The Sierra has three cab choices: regular (two-door), double (four doors with smaller rear doors), and crew (four standard doors). Bed options include short (69.92 inches), standard (79.44 inches), and long (98.2 inches). Regular cabs are available only with the Pro trim in standard or long bed formats. Double cabs with standard beds can be configured for the Pro, SLE, and Elevation grades. Crew cab variants with short or standard beds span all trims, although the AT4X and Denali Ultimate are exclusively offered in crew cab/short bed configurations.
Payload capacity ranges from 1,720 to 2,240 pounds, while towing capacity spans 8,800 to 13,300 pounds, varying by configuration, powertrain, and equipment. Fuel economy figures for the turbo four-cylinder range between 17 and 19 mpg in the city and 18 to 22 mpg on the highway. The 5.3-liter V8 returns 15 to 17 mpg around town and 19 to 21 mpg on the open road, while the 6.2-liter V8 will get you 14 to 16 mpg in urban driving and 17 to 20 mpg on the highway. The fuel-efficient Duramax diesel has 20 to 24 mpg ratings in the city and 22 to 29 mpg on the highway.
The work-focused Pro trim goes a bit beyond the basics with fabric or vinyl upholstery, manually controlled air conditioning, LED exterior lighting, an automatic locking rear differential, heated side mirrors, manually adjustable front seats, vinyl flooring, black bumpers, cruise control, USB ports, and 17-inch steel wheels. The SLE has a bit more equipment: remote start, automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, GM’s MultiPro tailgate, a power driver’s seat, keyless entry/start, a digital instrument cluster, a trailer brake controller, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Elevation adds LED fog lights, body-color bumpers, a rear window defroster, black exterior elements, and 20-inch aluminum wheels with a gloss-black finish. The Sierra 1500 SLT goes upscale with leather upholstery, a driver’s memory system, a power front passenger seat, a power tailgate, power-folding side mirrors, chrome exterior accents, upgraded trailering features, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
GMC brings together off-road prowess and comfort features for the AT4. It has heated and ventilated front seats, off-road suspension tuning, mud-terrain tires, a factory-applied spray-on bedliner, skid plates, enhanced traction control, and recovery hooks. The luxury-focused Denali has an adaptive suspension, heated rear seats, a power-sliding rear window, chrome side steps, a unique grille design, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. The AT4X builds on the AT4 with an upgraded suspension (including a two-inch factory-installed lift and Multimatic DSSV dampers), a two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, a power sunroof, premium leather seating surfaces, 16-way power front seats with massage, a head-up display, and wood interior accents. At the top of the lineup, the Denali Ultimate dials up the luxury factor, expanding on the Denali with a power sunroof, a digital rearview mirror, and full-grain leather covering the seats, door panels, instrument panel, and console lid.
Every 2025 Sierra 1500 includes GMC Pro Safety as standard equipment. This technology suite consists of forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is included with the AT4 and higher trims and is optional on other grades. The AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims include GM’s Safety Alert Seat that vibrates to warn drivers of potential hazards; this feature is optional on the SLT. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving capability is optional with the Denali and standard on the Denali Ultimate.
The Pro trim has a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, while all other trims upgrade to a 13.4-inch touchscreen. The multimedia components common to all Sierra 1500s are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to OnStar services. SiriusXM satellite radio is optional on the Pro and standard on the rest. The audio system varies across the lineup. The default is a straightforward six-speaker unit (two speakers in the regular cab), while an upgrade to a Bose arrangement with seven speakers is optional on Elevation and SLT and standard on the AT4 and Denali. The AT4X and Denali Ultimate receive the Bose system with a dozen speakers.
