The three-row Chevrolet Suburban is offered in a half-dozen trim packages: LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, and High Country. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque) is available, as is a 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax turbo-diesel (305 hp and 495 lb.-ft. of torque). All trims except the High Country get the 5.3-liter V8 by default. The 6.2-liter V8 is standard on the High Country and optional for the RST, Z71, and Premier. The Duramax is available for all but the LS). A 10-speed automatic transmission partners with all three powerplants. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional.
The Suburban boasts class-best maximum available cargo, yielding 144.5 cubic feet of space when both the second and third rows are folded down. Depending on the engine and drivetrain, it can tow between 7,700 pounds and 8,200 pounds. Its towing capability has been enhanced as part of this 2025 refresh, with new features such as boat ramp assist, trailer navigation, a trailer tire monitoring, forward path indication (helps drivers navigate the trailer courtesy of guidelines on the surround-view monitor), and a mobile trailering app with load rating information. Buyers may get the Advanced Trailering Package (blind-zone steering assist, Hitch View, and a smart trailer integration indicator) or the Max Trailering Package (the contents of the Advanced Trailering Package plus an upgraded cooling system and an integrated brake controller).
As mentioned, the LS is able to seat nine passengers when a front bench seat for three is selected as an option instead of the standard pair of bucket seats. This trim also gets remote start, proximity keyless entry, three zones of automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, power front seats, a wrapped steering wheel, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, a selection of Type-A and Type-C USB ports, two 120V power outlets, LED headlights, roof rails, and heated exterior mirrors. The LT is improved with leather upholstery, heated front seats, driver’s position memory, a wireless phone charge pad, and a power liftgate. Trail enthusiasts should look to the Z71 for rugged enhancements such as front and rear skid plates, a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires (Goodyear Wrangler Territory), hill descent control, recovery hooks (painted red), and a high-approach front fascia. It also gets LED fog lights, assist steps, and a universal garage door opener. The RST gets those last three Z71 attributes along with perforated leather upholstery.
The Premier swaps heated power second-row captain’s chairs for the bench seat, dipping the seating capacity to seven. It steps into refinement with heated and ventilated front seats, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, position memory (for the side mirrors and steering wheel), a power third-row seat, a power-sliding center console, power-folding exterior mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming, and special lighting animations on the exterior. The High Country tops the range with a class-largest 15-inch head-up display, Magnetic Ride Control, a rear camera mirror, and – for the first time ever in the Suburban – genuine wood interior trim. Some options for the ’25 Suburban include a rear-seat entertainment system, a hands-free liftgate, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a panoramic sunroof.
The standard driver-assist tech in the refreshed Chevy Suburban consists of adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-zone steering assist, a surround-view monitor, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, rear pedestrian alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, GM’s safety alert seat, and rear seat reminder. The LT, RST, Premier, and High Country qualify for Super Cruise, technology that allows hands-free driving on compatible roadways in the United States and Canada.
As we said above, the Suburban’s 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system stands at the top of the segment. It’s based on Google built-in for flawless access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store. The other standard components are navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth (for hands-free phone calls and audio streaming), natural voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Wi-Fi hotspot access. Most trims receive a sound system with six speakers, but the Premier and High Country upgrade to a Bose setup with ten speakers and CenterPoint surround sound (optional for all but the LS).
