The Chevy Equinox has been completely overhauled for model year 2025 with a new trim lineup consisting of the LT, RS, and Activ. They have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 175 horsepower and 203 lb.-ft. of torque; the mechanical picture is completed by a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The optional all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) gets an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of the CVT. One of the best characteristics of the Equinox is its fine fuel economy, with the FWD version returning an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway and the AWD version achieving 24 mpg city/29 mpg highway.
Even the base trim, the LT, is well outfitted with remote start, cloth upholstery, heated front seats (manually adjustable), a heated wrapped steering wheel, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, an 11-inch driver-information display, four USB ports (two up front and two in the rear), manual climate control, LED headlights, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, and tinted rear glass. The sportier-looking RS adds synthetic-leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, a race-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel, a power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails, a heated wiper zone, and a holder for sunglasses. At the top of the Equinox lineup, the Activ gets all-terrain tires and sueded microfiber seat trim.
The RS and Activ are both eligible for a unique two-tone exterior, with the RS offering a black roof and the Activ a white one. Several options can be added through various upgrade packages, which are detailed in the final section.
The Chevy Safety Assist suite comes standard in the ’25 Equinox, bolstering each trim with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist detection, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. On top of that, all trims receive rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, and blind-zone steering assist. More safety features can be installed via the Safety and Technology Package (see the final section for information on its contents).
All ’25 Equinox trims have a brand-new Google built-in infotainment system with an 11.3-inch touchscreen. This means that Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store are standard, along with a handful of other multimedia must-haves like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, an audio system with six speakers, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming.
The ’25 Equinox is eligible for a handful of stellar upgrade packages. Across the board, the Safety and Technology Package will supply a rear camera mirror, fog lights, rear pedestrian detection, a surround-view camera, and traffic sign recognition. The Convenience Package II for the LT contains a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunglasses holder, a heated wiper zone, wireless phone charging, a power liftgate, and roof rails. Those who order the RS or Activ may elect the Convenience Package III to get ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, position memory for the driver’s seat, and heated rear outboard seats.
