Trims and Powertrains

The trim selection for the 2025 Colorado consists of the WT (Work Truck), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. As mentioned above, they all get the 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder engine, which is tuned to produce 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque across the lineup. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard on the WT and LT, with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional. The Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 come standard with 4WD. All Colorados are configured with a crew cab with four standard doors and a 61.7-inch cargo bed.

With the TurboMax engine, towing capacity reaches up to 7,700 pounds, although the ZR2 is limited to 6,000 pounds due to its off-road-focused suspension and tire setups. This midsized truck’s fuel economy estimates vary by trim, ranging from 18 to 19 mpg in city driving and 22 to 24 mpg on the highway.

Standard Features

The WT is named for work, but it’s also suitable for play. It comes with fabric upholstery, automatic headlights, an 11-inch driver information display, heated power side mirrors, single-zone climate control, remote keyless entry and locking tailgate, a sliding rear window, cruise control, a remote-locking tailgate, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Other standard amenities on this base model include a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start, rear privacy glass, two USB ports, rear air vents, a floor console, a tilt steering column, and 17-inch steel wheels. The LT’s upgrades include a second automatic climate-control zone, remote start, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar controls, proximity keyless entry, the EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate with a lockable storage compartment, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a second-row USB port, carpeted front and rear floor mats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

The Trail Boss combines the WT’s standard features with some of the LT’s upgrades, such as dual-zone automatic climate control. Its off-road capability is enhanced with a 2-inch factory lift kit, a wider chassis, a two-speed transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, a heavy-duty alternator, a drive-mode selector, wheel flares, and 18-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels wrapped in 32-inch all-terrain tires.

Building upon the Trail Boss, the Z71 has its seats upholstered in a mix of fabric and Evotex leatherette upholstery. It also gets heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar controls, LED exterior lighting with projector-style headlights, unique exterior treatments, two second-row USB ports, dual 120-volt outlets, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, and wireless device charging.

The range-topping ZR2 is a true off-road warrior, equipped with Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers, a 3-inch factory lift, electronic full-locking front and rear differentials (driver-selectable), an off-road front fascia and rear bumper, wheel flares, and a spray-on bedliner. It rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels with 33-inch mud-terrain tires. Inside, the ZR2 boasts perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a driver’s memory system. The optional ZR2 Bison Package will add extensive off-road upgrades developed with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2025 Colorado trims come standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of driver-assist technologies consisting of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, automatic high beams, a rear seat reminder, and a following distance indicator. An advanced blind-spot monitoring system with trailering support, as well as the Trailering Package, comes standard on the Trail Boss and higher (it’s optional on the lower trims). Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view monitor are available on all trims except the WT. Every trim receives airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor. The Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 have standard hill descent control. The Z71 and ZR2 can also be optioned with underbody cameras as an extra eye during off-road maneuvers.

Infotainment and Connectivity

On the infotainment front, every Colorado gets an 11.3-inch touchscreen system with navigation capability, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Google built-in technology. Access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar services is also standard, but a subscription is required. All trims get a six-speaker audio system by default, but a seven-speaker Bose upgrade is offered for the Z71 and ZR2.
