GMC sells four versions of the 2024 Terrain: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. All trims are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the SLE and SLT, with all-wheel drive (AWD) optional. The AT4 and Denali are AWD only. Both drivetrains are controlled by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The FWD-equipped Terrain is EPA-rated to deliver 24 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the open road; this changes to 23 city/28 highway with AWD. When it’s properly equipped, the Terrain can tow up to 1,500 pounds. You’ll have 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row when someone is seated there, or 63.3 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded flat.
The Terrain SLE starts with single-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, heated power side mirrors, a 4.2-inch driver information display, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The optional SLE Convenience Package brings heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver’s seat, remote engine start, and roof-mounted side rails. The SLT is based on the SLE with the Convenience Package and adds perforated leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a hands-free liftgate, a driver’s memory system, a six-way power front passenger seat, fog lights, a wrapped steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
The AT4 is ready for off-pavement duty with an underbody skid plate. This trim also gets AT4-themed leather-trimmed seating, unique exterior treatments, and 17-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels. The Denali takes the Terrain to new heights of comfort and convenience. It expands on the SLT’s offerings with an enhanced suspension, a head-up display, Denali-themed leather upholstery, a 7-inch driver information display, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. An available Denali Premium Package adds heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear outboard seats. All Terrain trims can be equipped with an optional power sunroof.
GMC Pro Safety comes installed on all 2024 Terrains. It provides forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. The Denali and AT4 also get lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, the Safety Alert Seat (the driver’s seat vibrates with safety notifications), and rear parking sensors; these features can be added to the SLE and SLT. Adaptive cruise control is standard on the AT4 and available on the other Terrain trims. A surround-view monitor is optional for the SLT and higher. All trims also get airbags, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill descent control, and a rearview monitor.
A 7-inch touchscreen handles the SLE’s infotainment system, while the higher trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. All trims get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, multiple USB ports, 12-volt and 110-volt power sockets, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/GMC Connected Services (for emergency help and remote features). A six-speaker audio system comes with most trims, but the Denali gets a seven-speaker Bose system (which is optional on the SLT and AT4). Navigation is standard in the Denali and is available for the other trims. Wireless device charging is exclusive to the Denali.
