Buyers of the redesigned Trax can choose from the LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ. This fuel-efficient small crossover uses a 137-horsepower turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine working with a six-speed automatic transmission. According to the EPA’s official fuel economy estimations, all versions of the 2024 Trax achieve 28 mpg around town and 32 mpg on the highway. These numbers earn the Trax high praise for efficiency.
Chevrolet has sweetened the base Trax, the LS, this time around by making wireless smartphone integration, active noise cancellation technology, and LED headlights standard. This trim also gets LED daytime running lights, remote keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, 17-inch steel wheels, two USB ports (one Type-A and one Type-C), a 12-volt outlet, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. As one of the newly introduced Trax trims, the 1RS steps forward with unique styling, as seen in its special grille design and black exterior elements, including the 18-inch wheels. For comfort, it has remote start, heated front seats and exterior mirrors, and a track-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel. The LT is similarly equipped, but it has roof rails, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, machined-aluminum 17-inch wheels, superior LED daytime running lights, single-zone automatic climate control, seats upholstered in a combination of cloth and simulated-leather, two USB charge ports, and a cover for the cargo area.
The 2RS blends the equipment of the 1RS and the LT, for a standard package highlighting black 19-inch wheels, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, and full simulated-leather upholstery with red accents. The Activ is most like the 2RS, but it gets the same 18-inch wheels as the 1RS, plus chrome-look trim, yellow cabin accents, a garnish for the rear skid plate, and a power driver’s seat. As far as options, all trims except the LS can add a sunroof, and wireless phone charging is available only on the Activ.
The all-new 2024 Trax comes with the Chevy Safety Assist technology suite. This grouping of advanced driver-assist components consists of a following distance indicator, IntelliBeam automatic high beams forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. All trims also receive GM’s Teen Driver technology, which helps to reinforce safe habits in young people who are new to driving. The optional Driver Confidence Package will add lane change alert with side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert. When this package is installed on the LT, 2RS, and Activ, it will also include adaptive cruise control. Rear parking sensors are optional for all trims.
Part of the Trax’s redesign is an overhauled infotainment system. The LS and 1RS get an 8-inch touchscreen with the biggest addition: wireless smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay). The other components are Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an audio system with four speakers. The LT, 2RS, and move up to an 11-inch touchscreen while also getting an additional pair of speakers.
