Trims and Powertrain

Chevy adopts a something-for-everyone approach with the 2024 Traverse. The LS serves as the base trim, while the next level, the LT, adds more features. The Z71 offers a step up, and the RS is the top Traverse offering. They all have a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 315 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque (this torque output is a 19% increase over the previous generation). Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on most grades, while all-wheel drive (AWD) is available on all but the Z71, where it comes standard. An eight-speed automatic transmission manages both drivetrains. When the Traverse is properly equipped, it can tow as much as 5,000 pounds.

Standard Features

The eight-passenger LS gets quite a few premium features, such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, proximity keyless entry, heated power side mirrors, push-button start, LED headlights, and remote start. It also has fabric upholstery, an 11-inch driver information display, four USB ports, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The LT swaps in second-row captain’s chairs for seven-passenger seating, although the bench seat is optional for those who prefer the eight-passenger configuration. This trim’s improvements over the base include an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar controls, wireless device charging, and roof side rails. The Traverse gains more off-road prowess through the Z71 trim, which gets an advanced twin-clutch AWD system, a fully independent suspension, a heavy-duty cooling system, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires along with unique exterior treatments.

The top-of-the-line RS trim brings on the luxury factor with perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a four-way power front passenger seat, a power panoramic sunroof, and a power 60/40-split folding third-row seat. The RS also gets a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, unique exterior treatments, LED exterior lighting, heated power side mirrors with power-folding and driver-side auto-dimming functionality, a heated windshield wiper zone, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a trailering package, and 22-inch wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Chevrolet packs the 2024 Traverse with the latest advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), starting with the Chevy Safety Assist suite (forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams). The extensive list of other standard ADAS tech includes a safety alert seat (the driver’s seat vibrates for specific safety notifications), a surround-view monitor, lane change alert with side blind-zone alert, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, reverse automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, speed limit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving is available on all trims except for the LS. Rear parking sensors are standard across the lineup, while automatic parking assist (semi-autonomous parking support) is standard on the RS and optional for the LT and Z71.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The most visible cabin change to the 2024 Traverse is the addition of a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. This system unites Google built-in apps with navigation capability, phone integration, and natural voice recognition. All trims also get SiriusXM satellite radio and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar/Chevrolet Connected Services. A six-speaker audio system is standard in the LS and LT, while the Z71 and RS get a ten-speaker Bose sound system, which is optional on the LT.
