Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

Making up the high-capacity (it seats up to nine) 2024 Tahoe trim range are the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. Most of those are equipped with the standard engine, a 5.3-liter V8 generating 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The High Country instead gets a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel that makes 277 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque; it’s optional for all but the Z71. The strongest engine on offer is a 6.2-liter V8 with an output of 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. It can be ordered with the RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country.

All of these engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all but the Z71, which is made strictly with four-wheel drive; all of the remaining trims can be configured with 4WD as an option. Also of note: the ’24 Tahoe’s maximum towing capacity can reach 8,400 pounds with a configuration of RWD, the 5.3-liter V8 engine, and the Max Trailering Package.

Efficiency

The ’24 Tahoe’s fuel economy depends on the engine and drivetrain. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel is the most efficient of the three, leading to fuel economy of 21 city/28 highway with RWD. With either drivetrain, a Tahoe with the 5.3-liter V8 returns an EPA-estimated 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, while those with the 6.2-liter V8 achieve 14 city/20 highway with RWD (18 mpg highway with 4WD). A Duramax-equipped Tahoe with 4WD is rated to pull off 20 city/26 highway.

Standard Amenities

While the base LS seats eight occupants by default, it’s the only trim that’s eligible for a front-row bench seat that allows it to seat nine. Otherwise, it comes well appointed with remote start, proximity keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, four USB-C charging ports, heated side-view mirrors, roof rails, LED exterior lights (headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights), a mechanical limited-slip differential, rain-sensing wipers, two 120V power outlets (one in the rear center console and one in the cargo area), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 60/40-split folding second- and third-row bench seats, and a handy cargo management system.

The LT adds leather upholstery, a hands-free liftgate, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a 12-inch multi-information display (up from 4.2 inches in the LS), position memory for the driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and wireless phone charging. The RST gets larger wheels and perforated leather upholstery. For anyone who wants a more off-road-centric experience, the Z71 is the way to go. In addition to standard 4WD, it gets a two-speed transfer case (which detects slippage and automatically engages 4WD until traction is regained), a front skid plate, a heavy-duty air filter, hill descent control, red recovery hooks, all-terrain tires, and a high-approach front bumper. The LT, RST, and Z71 are eligible to swap their second-row bench seat for a pair of bucket seats, reducing their passenger capacity to seven.

The Premier gets the second-row bucket seats as standard equipment and omits the Z71’s offroad attributes (the heavy-duty air filter, front skid plate, all-terrain tires, and high-approach front fascia), but it gains heated and ventilated front seats, Magnetic Ride Control (which monitors each wheel independently and adjusts the vertical suspension every millisecond to maintain a smooth ride quality), driver’s side auto-dimming side mirrors, a power-sliding center console, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, heated outboard second-row seats, position memory for the side mirrors and steering wheel, and a power-folding third-row bench seat. The lavish High Country crests the range with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror with a built-in washer. It also gets the standard seven-passenger configuration.

Safety Features

The standard Chevy Safety Assist Package comes on every trim, supplying forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. Every Tahoe trim also receives parking sensors (front and rear), a front outboard passenger sensing system, and Teen Driver, which encourages better driving habits for young people. The Premier and High Country also get lane change alert with side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and a safety alert seat. The High Country is loaded, getting enhanced automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera, and rear pedestrian alert.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The default Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system in the 2024 Tahoe houses these components within an 8-inch touchscreen: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The LS gets a six-speaker audio system while the LT, RST, and Z71 upgrade to a nine-speaker Bose audio system and the advanced Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium setup featuring a 10.2-inch reconfigurable touchscreen, connected navigation, voice recognition, and HD Radio. The Premier and High Country get all of the above, but with a total of 10 speakers for their Bose unit, with surround sound.

Packages

A variety of premium packages are offered for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe. All trims qualify for the Max Trailering Package, which supplies a two-speed transfer case (on trims that don’t already get this standard), an enhanced cooling radiator, Hitch Guidance with Hitch View, a trailer brake controller, and a trailer hook-up indicator. For the Premier and High Country, it also includes trailer side blind-zone alert. Each trim can also be ordered with the Driver Alert Package, which incorporates lane change alert with side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert.

The LT, RST, and Z71 are eligible for the Luxury Package, which comes with the contents of the Driver Alert Package, plus a surround-view camera, rear pedestrian alert, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, memory settings (for driver’s seat, side mirrors, and steering wheel), power-folding side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming and turn-signal indicators, heated second-row outboard seats, and power-folding/release rear seats. With the RST, it also bundles adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking. The LT is also eligible for the LT Signature Package, which has the features from the Luxury and Max Trailering packages, as well as a panoramic sunroof. Meanwhile, the RST can be ordered with the Sport Performance Package (contents: the 6.2-liter V8 engine, Magnetic Ride Control, and a dual-system exhaust with twin polished stainless-steel tips).

The Z71 can be enhanced with extra off-road accoutrements via its two exclusive packages: Off-Road Capability and Off-Road Performance. The Off-Road Capability Package features Magnetic Ride Control, an adaptive air-ride suspension, and an electronic limited-slip differential, whereas the Off-Road Performance Package resembles the Sport Performance Package with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and dual-system exhaust. What’s more, the Z71 can be outfitted with everything in the Luxury Package, the Max Trailering Package, and the Off-Road Capability Package through the comprehensive Z71 Off-Road Package.

The Advanced Technology Package for the Premier and High Country contains the Super Cruise hands-free driving system, adaptive cruise control, and reverse automatic braking (with the Premier, it also provides enhanced automatic emergency braking, which is already standard in the High Country). The Premier also qualifies for the Enhanced Display and Alert Package, which consists of a surround-view camera, a head-up display, a rear camera mirror washer, and rear pedestrian alert. To top it off, a panoramic sunroof is available for the Premier and High Country with the Premium Package.
