At the moment, there’s just one trim package for the 2024 Silverado EV: the First-Edition RST (look for additional trims – LT, WT, and Trail Boss – to be introduced later). It’s built on General Motors’ well-regarded Ultium platform, with a two-motor powerplant that makes up to 754 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft. of torque. Four-wheel drive with active rear steering (enabling four-wheel steering) is standard, as are adaptive ride control, and a four-corner adaptive air suspension. The maximum towing capacity is a mighty 10,000 pounds. Hitch Guidance with Hitch View comes standard along with trailer-centered camera views, blind-zone steering assist, and trailer tire pressure and temperature sensors.
As for its range, you’ll get as much as 440 miles out of a fully charged Silverado EV. It comes with a dual-level charge cord that’s compatible with both 120-volt Level 1 and 240-volt Level 2 charging as well as 800-volt DC fast charging. Owners can also purchase an adapter for use at Tesla Supercharger locations. The One-Pedal Driving feature can add incremental battery power by harvesting kinetic energy formed during the braking process.
The Silverado EV First-Edition RST has loads of appeal beyond its sheer power, thanks to fine assembly of amenities. It has remote start, heated and ventilated power front seats with driver’s-side position memory, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel wrapped in leather, wireless phone charging, a 14-inch head-up display, and a fixed-glass panoramic roof. The side-view mirrors are heated and power-folding, with driver’s-side auto-dimming and built-in turn indicators. The list continues with rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient cabin lighting, an 11-inch driver information display, an ample number of USB ports for data and charging, three power outlets (one 12V and two 120-volt), LED lighting, and 24-inch aluminum wheels.
The Silverado EV’s design has plenty of accommodation for whatever you’ll need to take with you. Its hood covers the eTrunk, a weatherproof storage compartment that locks securely and is appointed with cargo tie-down points, a 120-volt power outlet, and holes for drainage. The 5-foot 11-inch cargo bed comes from the factory with a Chevytec spray-on liner, LED lighting, five power outlets (four 120V and one 240V), and the Multi-Flex Tailgate, which makes it easy to load and unload. The Multi-Flex Midgate helps accommodate oversized items (up to 10 feet, 10 inches) by extending the load floor into the back seat area.
The Chevy Safety Assist technology bundle is standard. Its components are adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking with rear pedestrian alert, rear cross-traffic braking, automatic intersection braking, traffic sign recognition with speed limit assist, driver attention monitoring, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, rear seat reminder, automatic parking assist, and the safety alert seat. Drivers will have a better eye out for those who aren’t in cars, thanks to front pedestrian and bicyclist braking and side bicyclist alert. Super Cruise, the hands-free driving system by GM, comes standard for more relaxed travel on compatible roadways.
The Silverado EV’s Google built-in infotainment system is generously sized at 17.7 inches on the diagonal. It can be managed using either the touchscreen or natural voice recognition. The other standard components are Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth (hands-free phone and audio streaming), onboard navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to OnStar/Chevrolet Connected Services. A Bose sound system with seven speakers and a Richbass subwoofer is also included.
