At launch, the 2024 Equinox EV comes in four trims: 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS, but a base 1LT will be available at a later date. Front-wheel drive models have a single electric motor to make 210 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft of torque, while the available all-wheel drive system increases output to 290 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft of torque with a dual-motor setup. Chevy claims the AWD system can take the Equinox EV from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds because of the access to instant torque. This electric SUV can also tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped.
The Equinox EV is set up for one-pedal driving, allowing it to accelerate and come to a complete stop using just the single pedal. It works with regenerative braking to convert the kinetic energy of the forward momentum into electricity that can be stored in the battery pack for a longer driving range. The FWD version of the Chevy Equinox EV can travel up to 319 miles per charge, while the AWD configuration can go up to 285 miles before needing to be plugged in again. Using DC fast charging (up to 150 kW), the Equinox EV can receive up to 77 miles of range in just 10 minutes. An hour of standard Level 2 charging (11.5 kW) provides up to 36 miles of range.
The 1LT will have manually adjustable front seats, an 11-inch driver information center, two USB ports, two 12V power outlets, and 19-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels. The 2LT gets those features plus remote start, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, a heated steering wheel, a front LED light bar, roof rails, an AutoSense power liftgate, and heated side-view mirrors.
The 2RS builds adds to the aggressive styling with 21-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, and it gets the Convenience Package (four-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, Hitch Guidance, and Hitch View technology) as well. The 3LT raises the bar on comfort and convenience with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and a heated wiper park. At the top of the lineup, the 3RS has black roof-mounted side rails and a wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Chevrolet offers a number of options for all trims, including a panoramic sunroof, black badging and other exterior accents, and various cargo-management and all-weather accessories. Super Cruise driver-assist technology, which allows for hands-free travel on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roadway throughout the United States and Canada, is bundled with Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist in the Active Safety Package 3. The Lifestyle Package will add a trailer hitch closeout, rooftop cross rails (black), and a cargo carrier mount.
Chevy Safety Assist technology is included on the Equinox EV, equipping it with automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high-beams, rear park assist, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, HD surround-vision camera, and adaptive cruise control. Enhanced automatic parking assist is also available along with Super Cruise semi-automated driving technology via the Active Safety Package 3.
The best-in-class 17.7-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen comes standard on the 2LT and higher. This Google-based system is set up with Google Built-in (Google Assistant, Google Play Store, and Google Maps), a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, OnStar connectivity services capability, and a sound system with six speakers.
