Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy
The four trim choices for the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer are the LS, LT, Activ, and RS. The base powertrain is a 137-horsepower turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT); a 155 hp 1.3-liter turbo upgrade is available on the LT and standard on the Activ and RS. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive are offered; with FWD, it gets a, but with AWD, it has a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The official fuel economy estimates from the EPA state that the FWD LS and LT return 29 mpg around town and 31 mpg on the highway, and the FWD Activ, RS, and 1.3-liter LT achieve 29 city/33 highway. Any Trailblazer equipped with AWD gets 26 city/30 highway. Although the Trailblazer isn’t a towing vehicle per se, it can pull as much as 1,000 pounds if it’s not carrying a full load of passengers and cargo inside.
The LS is an entry-level trim with a mix of basic and more advanced equipment. It has cloth seats, automatic headlights (including auto high beams), wireless smartphone integration, a cabin air filter, LED daytime running lights, a 7-inch driver information display, and two USB data ports (one Type-A and the other Type-C), and the Chevy Safety Assist driver-assist technology bundle (more on that below). The LT steps things up with remote start, heated front seats, LED fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, roof rack side rails, cruise control, and keyless entry.
The Activ looks and feels tougher with sport tires, a skid plate, and a suspension tuned for off-pavement driving. Plus, it gets LED taillights, titanium-look bumpers, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel (the shift knob is also wrapped with leather), a rear-seat center armrest, and leatherette seats. The RS swaps in all-season tires and drops those specially styled bumpers, and the seats are upholstered in a nice mix of fabric and leatherette.
Advanced Safety Technologies and Multimedia
