There are four trims to choose from with the five-passenger Equinox: LS, LT, RS, and Premier. They each get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 175 hp and 203 lb.-ft. of torque coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available. According to EPA reports, the FWD Equinox achieves an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. With AWD, it returns 24 city/30 highway.
Chevrolet stocks the base LS with the expected essentials plus some nicer features. That list includes automatic LED headlights, heated side mirrors, proximity entry, push-button ignition, and a 60/40-split rear seatback. The LT is improved with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, illuminated vanity mirrors, rear privacy glass, and an overhead console sunglasses holder. Buyers looking to make a statement will want to check out the RS, which gets larger wheels and black exterior accents along with remote start, LED taillights, a power liftgate, roof-mounted side rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Premier drops the black elements of the RS but adds perforated leather upholstery, fog lights, a hands-free liftgate, side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, a 120-volt power outlet, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and position memory for driver’s seat and side mirrors.
The Chevy Safety Assist bundle of advanced driving aids comes standard in the ’23 Equinox. It features forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. The Premier adds a safety alert seat, which vibrates in the direction of a potential collision to warn the driver to change course. What’s more, all trims come with Teen Driver, GM’s state-of-the-art driving system that’s designed for beginning motorists. Several advanced safety aids are available for the ’23 Equinox, which you can learn more about below in the Packages section.
The standard version of the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system has a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, a six-speaker audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Premier moves up to an 8-inch touchscreen. Each trim also gets two 12-volt power outlets, two USB charging ports, and two USB data ports (one Type-A and one Type-C).
