2022 Chevrolet Tahoe for Sale in Johnston, RI

Large-scale SUVs are a major driving force (no pun intended) in the auto industry. With their hardy capabilities and considerable practicality, it’s no wonder why people – especially those with large families – flock to them time and again. One of the most admirable in this class is the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. It arrived on the scene for the 1995 model year, joining the similar GMC Yukon, which had come out a couple years earlier. The 2022 Tahoe earns fans with its rugged body-on-frame construction, class-best powertrain selection, comfortable interior appointments, and best-in-class cargo volume (122.9 cubic feet, to be specific). In 2021, the Tahoe kicked off its fifth generation with a redesign that delivered more plushness, spaciousness, and overall competence. All those updates carry over into model year 2022, along with a few other enhancements.

What’s New? Plus Desirable Amenities

For 2022, the RST, Z71, and Premier trims are now eligible for the 6.2-liter V8 engine. The Z71 can also get the new electronic limited-slip differential too, and every trim except for the base receives a customizable 12.3-inch digital instrumentation cluster. The Tahoe’s infotainment system has been improved and now has Google services built in. Plus, the Chevy Safety Assist suite is now standard across the trim range, along with front and rear parking sensors, lane keeping assist, and lane departure warning. GM’s Buckle to Drive system is standard as well, meaning that you won’t be able to shift out of park unless both front occupants are buckled up. Chevrolet also offers an available class-best 13-view camera system that even has a transparent mode to help with trailering cumbersome equipment.

The ’22 Tahoe is brimming with exceptional equipment. The eight-passenger LS (it can seat nine with the available front-row bench seat) has tri-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights and daytime running lights, heated side mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, 18-inch wheels, two 120-volt power outlets, and six USB ports (two data and four charging). The LT gets a hands-free liftgate, power-adjustable leather front seats, driver’s seat memory, a wireless phone charger, a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation cluster, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The RST is set apart with its striking looks, led by blacked-out 22-inch wheels, black interior and exterior trim, and RST emblems.

The Z71 is more off-road focused with its standard 4WD, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, higher approach angle, a front skid plate, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, and recovery hooks in red; an electronic limited-slip differential is available. The upscale Premier omits the Z71’s off-road equipment but makes up for it with Magnetic Ride Control (an adjustable suspension that improves overall ride comfort and handling), ventilated front seats, a class-first power sliding center console, and power release second-row bucket seats that reduce seating capacity to seven. The top-end High Country has 22-inch wheels and the largest (15-inch diagonal) head-up display in the full-sized segment. A panoramic sunroof is optional on all trims but the LS.

Trims, Power and Pefromance

The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is available in six trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. All but the High Country get a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine that makes 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The RST, Z71, and Premier are eligible for the 6.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque; this powerplant is standard on the High Country. There’s also a turbocharged Duramax 3.0-liter V6 (277 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque) that’s offered for all trims but the Z71. This diesel-engine version of the ’22 Tahoe is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its class, returning up to 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Every engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and while most trims have standard rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive is optional (the Z71 comes in 4WD only). With the diesel and RWD, the ’22 Tahoe can tow a maximum of 8,200 lb.

Advanced Safety Technology

All trims come with a standard slate of helpful driver aids, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors. The Premier gains lane change alert with side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert, while the High Country comes with a surround-view camera system and rear pedestrian alert. Adaptive cruise control is optional for both the Premier and High Country. Buckle to Drive (a system that won’t let you shift out of park unless the front passengers’ seatbelts are fastened) and Teen Driver (technology that encourages better habits for young drivers) are standard across the board as well.

Infotainment, Connectivity and Add-ons

The LS has an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth (for hands-free phone use and audio streaming), an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker audio system. The LT and above receive Chevy’s Infotainment 3 Premium system. It consists of a 10.2-inch touchscreen, built-in Google services, voice recognition, satellite radio, HD radio, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. The Premium and High Country add a 10-speaker surround-sound Bose audio system.

Many of the high-end features mentioned above that are standard in the more expensive trims are available for the lower-priced ones through packages. Two other noteworthy packages are Advanced Trailering (hitch guidance with hitch view, a trailer brake controller, a smart trailer integration indicator, and for the Premier and High Country, trailer side blind-zone alert) and Max Trailering (which bundles the contents of the Advanced Trailering Package with an enhanced cooling radiator and a two-speed active transfer case for the 4WD LS, LT, and RST). There are also two suspensions offered: Magnetic Ride Control and Adaptive Air Ride. Magnetic Ride Control (available for the RST and Z71) adjusts automatically to improve ride comfort and handling, while the first-in-class Adaptive Air Ride suspension (available for the Z71 and High Country) has electronically controlled air springs that can be altered based on specific road conditions. A rear entertainment system with dual 12.6-inch screens is available as well for all trims but the LS.
