Now in its second generation, the Chevrolet Traverse is popular with large families and individuals who want a spacious and well-appointed interior plus lots of amenities. This modern and good-looking three-row vehicle features ample space for up to eight passengers, an outstanding infotainment system with loads of easy-to-use features, and a generous number of advanced driver and passenger safety features.
Trims and Standard Equipment
The Traverse comes in a choice of seven trims: L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. All trims get a drivetrain consisting of a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine (310 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque) paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All trims levels (except the L and High Country) come standard with front-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive; the L is only available in front-wheel drive, while the High Country is exclusively all-wheel drive. The Traverse’s 3.6-liter V6 engine delivers an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
The base L comes with 18-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, foglights, a three-row bench seat for eight-passenger seating, a rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and other connectivity features. The LS is similar to the L, but it adds all-wheel drive, second-row tablet mounts, more USB charging ports, and a cargo management package. The LT Cloth trim upgrades to second-row captain’s chairs, roof rails, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and mirror-integrated turn signals. The LT Leather features leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, an upgraded 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display, heated front seats, and some active driver safety features. The RS upgrades to 20-inch wheels, a premium Bose sound system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in rearview camera display, and some additional styling accents. The Premier adds a hands-free operating liftgate, heated rear seats, auto-dimming side mirrors, LED headlights, and wireless phone charging. The AWD-only High Country trim includes automatic high beams, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, a power-folding third-row seat, and an auto-locking rear differential.
Technology & Safety
With a 5-Star Overall Safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2019 Traverse proves that it is a vehicle you can depend on. Even the base L trim includes standard safety features such as Chevrolet’s advanced airbag system, Chevrolet Connected Access, OnStar, a rear seat reminder, rearview camera, and Teen Driver Technology, which lets parents keep tabs on new drivers’ habits. The LT Cloth adds a generous package of safety features such as rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Premier trim is eligible for the optional Driver Confidence Package that includes forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic braking, and lane departure warning.
The Traverse offers many advanced connectivity features to keep all of its occupants entertained. The entry-model L has a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration and a 4G LTE connection with an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay give you the hands-free ability to send and receive text messages, make phone calls, and control your music while you stay focused on the road. Chevrolet MyLink also allows you to install a variety of apps to keep you entertained, such as Pandora and Stitcher. The LT Leather trim also includes a navigation system and 10-speaker premium Bose sound system for those who want top-tier audio quality.
