In the spirit of community collaboration and teamwork
taught through youth sports, Hurd Chevrolet is supporting Johnston
Little League through the Chevy Youth Baseball program. This
sponsorship will include both monetary and equipment donations during
the 2010 youth baseball season.
Baseballs and team equipment
bags were requested by Little League President Ed Bedrosiam and the
Hurd Auto Mall responded with several boxes of equipment, baseballs as
well as a cash donation, delivered on April 12.
Now in its
fourth year, Chevy Youth Baseball is a grassroots initiative that
establishes a positive relationship between local dealers and the
communities they serve. Hurd Chevrolet is sponsoring Johnston Little
League as a part of Chevrolet's nationwide commitment to support youth
sports, one community at a time.
"We have been a strong
supporter of youth baseball in the town of Johnston since we moved here
in 1990," said Hurd Auto Mall president Chris Hurd. "We have sponsored
the Johnston Little League, Johnston Senior Babe Ruth and the Johnston
American Legion teams. We are very happy to be able to help and support
youth baseball in our town. Our corporate theme revolves around
baseball so it seems like a natural fit for us."
Over the course of the season, Hurd Chevrolet will donate even more to the league.
Each
sponsored league will take part in The Chevy Youth Baseball Double Play
Giveaway, which is a fundraiser that can earn each league up to
$10,000. The Chevy Youth Baseball Double Play Giveaway features a grand
prize of a 2010 Chevy Equinox, in addition to other great prizes such
as HD televisions, courtesy of the local Chevrolet dealership.
Also,
thanks to Hurd Chevrolet and other participating area Chevrolet
dealers, league participants will have a chance to attend a Chevy Youth
Baseball Instructional Clinic with a professional baseball team in the
area.
"We are looking forward to a great season with Johnston
Little League that will be filled with exciting games and an enhanced
experience for the teams through the equipment and cash donations,"
Chris Hurd said. "Chevy Youth Baseball is just one example of how
committed our dealership is to supporting the youth and families in the
Johnston community."
The 2010 program will provide assistance
to an impressive 200 leagues in the Northeastern region and Chevrolet
dealers will contribute over $400,000 in monetary and equipment
donations.
